History: Bluefield’s public library was established in 1913 by the city’s Civic Club. In the mid-20’s, the library moved to the Bluefield Municipal Building, where it stayed for nearly 50 years. In the early 70s, Bluefield citizen Jack Craft made a large donation for a new library building, and in 1974 the Craft Memorial Library opened its doors. The library serves 50,000 residents in Bluefield and Mercer County.
